The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK) is seeking two full-time Nursing Supervisors. One oversees the PM shift, and one oversees the NOC shift. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Position Summary
Under general supervision of the DON, the Shift Nursing Supervisor administers and directs nursing services for an assigned unit on the WVHK campus. As a member of the nursing management team, the incumbent supervises direct and indirect patient care, collaborates in the development, initiation, monitoring and evaluation of programs that ensure quality member care; and ensures appropriate staffing, compliance with state, federal and VA regulations and WDVA and WVHK policies and procedures. The incumbent has supervisory responsibility and accountability for all nursing employees during assigned shifts, and the cost-effective utilization of staff, equipment and other resources assigned to Nursing Services. This position focuses on quality using WDVA’s Mission & Philosophy as a guide to care provision.

Salary Information
Starting salary will be between $112,320 and $120,640 per year, depending on candidate qualifications, plus an attractive employee benefits package.
Nursing Supervisor is in pay schedule-pay range 50-11. For current State employees, pay on appointment will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
The PM Nursing Supervisor works 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The NOC Nursing Supervisor works 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Both positions work a weekend rotation every two or three weeks. When working a weekend rotation, the incumbent selects weekdays off in collaboration with other Shift Nursing Supervisors to ensure full coverage for all days.
Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
This position requires that the incumbent hold a Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
In addition to this requirement, in their resume and letter, minimally qualified applicants will provide details on their experience:
- Performing lead worker functions (e.g., assigning and prioritizing work, monitoring work performance, checking work product, coordinating staff schedules, mentoring, training, communicating with staff regarding timeliness, reporting and/or addressing concerns, etc.)
Well-qualified applicants will also include, in their resume and letter, details on their experience:
- Performing formal supervisor functions (e.g., interviewing, hiring, establishing the functions for a position, establishing and enforcing performance standards, conducting employee evaluations, counseling and/or coaching employees, participating in disciplinary actions, coordinating input from staff, resolving conflict, hearing grievances, etc.)
Additional required and preferred experience that will be assessed later in the selection process are:
- Providing skilled nursing care; and
- Providing geriatric nursing care; and
- Ensuring regulatory compliance; and
- Providing long-term nursing care; and
- Performing Quality Assurance-Performance Improvement (QAPI) functions; and/or
- Assessing problems and finding resolutions
